We were driving down a short grade towing our rv and all of a sudden a nasty zipper/ripping sound came and the engine started revving. we had no drive gear to keep us going. while being towed home, the driver said the dirt roads we live on caused the linkage to come out of adjustment. if we try to put it in Park it grinds, any gear I put it in (even putting it in 4x4), it's like it's in neutral, so it's sitting until we get back home to fix it. Has anyone else had this happen that lives on bumpy dirt roads? 1999 F350 Super Duty less than 120,00 miles, it sits most of the time in the garage waiting for us to pull the travel trailer somewhere. He has the repair manual out (which is kinda scary!) & it says could be a TR sensor. anyone have any ideas?
sounds like the trans output shaft is spinning while trying to put it in park, maybe the transfer case has issues... like the transfer case is in neutral or has a broken part
Thank you Bill, guess we will find out when we get it fixed. Just wanted an idea of what we would be looking for. We will keep you all posted just to follow through.
