I Know I dont post on here very much, but I love reading and drooling over everyone elses ex. (that sounds wierd) I have an 03 v10 limited with just under 100k. I want to do a spring swap and rancho shocks. Could someone please let me know what and where to get them? I want to take advantage of the rancho rebate before the end of the year. I dont know if the spring swap will change what shocks I need? I just thought somebody who has done it already knows. Thanks!
I went with the shocks for a stock v10 X. After that I replaced the springs with the v & b springs with the 3.5" tapered block in back. If u can find them used slightly great, but I went new from dealer. If you live near Ed on the north west coast he will be the best price. Maybe even with shipping cost he might be cheaper than some dealers, you just have to price around some. If you search v & b threads u can find all part #'s.
I found that with the stock shocks, after the spring swap they finally had the room for proper travel. I gained 2" from the new springs, but you can't really say 2" higher than stock because of the sag that was there.
I bought my Rancho RS9000XLs for a 4" lift at the end of July for 317.79 shipped from autopartsdealer.com Best deal I could find at the time.
With the $100 rebate, that is a pretty good deal for those shocks!
With the V and B springs I gained 2" after the swap, compared to measurements just before the swap. I just don't think that 2" was a direct height gain from the stock when new off the lot height. The stock springs are known to sag.
The stock shocks work and fit just fine. Now if you want to get more of a lift than the 2", you can go with the X springs. They are from the snow plow prep package so are stiffer, which translate to more lift.
