i just bought a 64 f600 and the brake pedal is sitting on the floor. does anyone know if thier is a company that sells brake kits. something that has everything behind the drum or even a good place to get the parts or would you say to just go to a local part store

 

You will have to buy everything separate,shoes,wheel cylinders,and any hardware you might need (springs etc)
Check your fluid level and shoe adjustment,but if it's been sitting for some time you will probably atleast need a master cyl or wheel cyls

 

also get your self a manual of that truck , lots of good info in it

 

yes it has been sitting for 20 years. do you know where to get a manuel for the big truck? i would love to get one. thank you

not completly sure what all that means. but it looks like you are saying that they can be found on ebay from time to time??

 

that was a manual for up to 63 HD trucks , was on ebay and you should be able to find every thing your looking for . also was some sights i was looking at few months back that had reproduced manuals could not seem to find the link , thought i saved it ?
try google and will find some thing to !

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for 22 bucks. This is the same catalog that will be found on Fordification.

But, before you look for one single part, you must know what sizes the front/rear brake shoes are.

There are FIVE different front brake shoe sizes, SIX for the rear. All the brake parts depend on what sizes the shoes are. This isn't a pickup where there's only one choice.

Once I know what the front & rear brake shoe sizes are, I can look up all the parts, post the part numbers and then tell you who has them.

Autoparts stores, brake shops are going to ask you the same questions, and be aware that many ebay sellers are clueless, as they have no parts knowledge.

 

the truck is still sitting where i found it due to the brake problem. once i get it home i need to find some tires for it and then it is going to be time for the brake work so once i get the drums off i will post the brake shoe size. thanks again for the help

 

i just got back from the truck. i poured some brake fluid in the master cylinder then i garbbed the brake off the floor and tried to see what it would do if i pumped it. it did nothing at all just cept falling to the floor when i took the brak line off the master cylinder it had no signs of fluid even trying to come though. i am taking it that is a good sign the master cylinder is junk. i am also wondering if their is a spaing under the dash anywhere that helps to holp the pedal up or is it just the pressure from the cylinder?

 

inre to Ford shop manuals. When a new body style was introduced, Ford issued a complete shop manual, then until the body style changed, Ford just issued yearly supplements.

In this case, 1961 would be the complete manual, 1962/66 would be yearly supplements to the full shop manual.

 

so i need to look for a shop manuel for the 61 and the 64 for the yearly updates?
