First the good news. My new 1985 Bronco 2 was one of few vehicles that could get out of my neighborhood this morning. It snowed a couple inches this morning and the grater came by to plow and turned the roads into the largest ice skating rink ever. My Bronco doesnt look very good and has tons of little problems, but I got where I was going.
Right now I'm trying to fix some of the electrical issues with my truck. It came with a cheap RAMPAGE cd player from shucks. As i was removing it from the dash the wiring harness came apart and the HOT wire touched the metal dash. A little spark and a quiet popping sound were the result.
Now my speedo and other gauges will not light up when the headlights are turned on.
The turning signals work on the truck but the indicators in the dash don't light up.
4x4 indicator light worked from a few minutes then turned off, keeping in mind that my 4wheel drive works perfect(snow day this morn)
The newer pioneer cd player i hooked up will not power on from either the constant HOT from battery or the ignition. Is grounded properly. Extra blue w/red stripe wire leftover from the truck's power wire harness.
I have checked the fuses under the steering column and they are all still good. I dont have a multimeter or test light. Could someone please help point me in the right direction.
Sitting here holding my Chilton's guide and banging my head on the wall.
She aint a Cadillac and she aint a Rolls but there aint nothing wrong with the 4 wheel drive 4.10s and limited slip rear
I would guess you may have taken out a fusible link. I'd suggest getting a Haynes manual for the Ranger/BroncoII. I don't have a diagram at hand for an '85, but it should be in the manual. It has diagrams for all years of the BII.
