A few weeks ago I installed a new Sony cd player in my 84 Bronco. It worked like a gem. Then a couple of days ago while driving, Hotel California came on so I had to turn it up. As soon as I did, it shut right off. When I got home later on, I pushed the reset button. Nothing. Pulled the unit to check the fuse in it. Still good. Checked the wiring. Still good. Checked the fuses in the truck. One was blown. It was for radio power/illumination. Replaced it, and still nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be happening?
Yes. There was a 30amp fuse in there originally. Not sure if that was the proper amperage to tell you the truth. I was a little low on selection, so I threw a 15amp one in there just to see if it worked, but still nothing....Anybody? Drives are starting to get boring.
Yes. That is the weird thing. Im at the point now where im thinking that the unit itself has fried. But the micro fuse in the back of it is fine, and I thought that that would have gone out if anything. Im still scratching my head..
You checked your ground wires etc right, to make sure they were connected?
i'm not sure if there is an internal fuse in a sony CD HU So I would check all the other wires first.
As far as the fuse that you replaced, check your owners manual for the correct number fuse to put in there.
