On both gaskets, the top four coolant channel holes all have small steam holes. For the front two, the upper one is blocked and the lower of the two has a small steam hole. Everything else is open.
Reading what you wrote this sounds normal. I also found out that the blocked coolant drain was actually a bolt hole that looks exactly like the coolant drain on the other side. My drains are fine. This all means to me that something else caused my problems. Could it be just all that gunk in there? Could that cause main bearings to start going and a bent pushrod? This motor has under 100k miles on it.
