External windshield visor or "eyebrow"?

I'm new here, and am looking for a source for the external metal "eyebrow" visor occasionally pictured on '60s and '70s models. Mine is a '74 F350 supercab, and among the zillion other things I'd like to do to it I'd like to find this metal visor if it is indeed available as an add on. I'm assuming it screws/bolts on? Has anyone added one in a restoration or have a source to buy one (repro or original, I'm okay with either)?

Thanks in advance, and I searched like crazy but "visor" and "eyebrow" and such are just to vague for search terms.

Are you talking about the Lund brand sun visors? Like the one on this dually?

Yea, kinda like that. I figured there were aftermarket versions which I'm cool with, but I am such a "restoration" nut (you should see my house - I need a therapist or something) I can't help but look for some sort of original.

The guy I bought my '74 from happened to have (he was a bit of a restoration nut too) an original 1974 F series sales brochure which I'll scan and post here if anyone is interested. I'm pretty sure there's a supercab pictured with that metal visor...

I'm off to search for the one you pointed out - thanks!

Any pointers to originals/repros?

Not that i know of, i've never heard of our trucks having a metal visor as an option before! Now I'd really like to know what they look like considering that earlier today i put lund visor on my truck!

This is most commonly called a 'visor' today. I too have never seen one in metal, but there are the fiberglass one from Lund available. I picked up a used one from Craigslist for my 95 F150. Most major cities have annual Swap Meets where you might be able to find something like you are looking for. Try finding some local car clubs to research the local swap meets.

Usually the aftermarket concentrates on recently built vehicles.
Most quit catering to the 70's-780's crowd years ago,

Try a swap meet, you might find one there

The E-series could have a Ford visor.

I've seen the ones you mean, they were metal, and all of them I've seen were chrome.... It always comes up in discussions about the rarest of rare parts and options. Apparently they are extremely hard to find these days....

Personally, I don't like the look of them, or at least in the chrome... maybe if it was color matched though. I do however love the look of the Lund style ones, and have wanted one for the bronco, but unfortunetally they aren't made anymore either and are getting harder to find too..

Good luck!

I beleive they are called "eyebrows" , and they make them for the windsheild as well as the headlights. I searched through a couple of lowrider websites and stores, and i managed to find a couple. It looks like they are stainless or chrome plated stamped steel??, i dont know if they are nos though. Goodluck!!

the most common ones i see on passenger vehicles are made of fiberglass, similar to the one on my dually. the stainless ones are on some big rigs. of coarse there are always exceptions.

I was told to post this and ask how much you would pay for this one?

It's located in Canada and is for sale for the right price

Stainless steel, no longer made.

The white stuff is the protective coating.

Look around some they are out there!! (aftermarket fiberglas ones at least) I had one on my old '78 F150 S/C and actually wished I'd never installed it-I feel that even with sealing the screws up that drilling into the roof sheet metal caused major rust to develop.....
