I was wondering how much modifying I could do to my exhaust system before I stir up a hornets nest with the 02 sensors.I haven't look yet but they say the Excursion has 4 cat convertors,I find that hard to believe.Thanx for any help John
I haven't look yet but they say the Excursion has 4 cat convertors...
Not sure who told you that but stay away from 'em!
It has one.
You can replace basically ALL of the exhaust (manifolds, cat, muffler & pipes) without messing up the O2 sensors so long as you keep it intact & functioning...
Depending on your budget; headers and a new cat-back can doo wonders for performance and sound.
A small budget would be to just replace the stock muffler and maybe get rid of that second "muffler" on the end. What's that called, "a resonator" or something?
A new muffler with maybe the tailpipe from V10 would work well on a budget.
Monsta most of the muffler shops here where I live are saying that there isn't alot room under the passenger side for running duals,I'm going to take it to well known muffler shop where I live and see what they say.Thanx
Installed new muffler,magna-flow performance, ran duals from the muffler,2.5 " good sound and gas mileage around town went from 11.2 to 12.2 to 12.5 hand calculated-- cost $238.Well worth it!!
