Howdy. It looks like I'm getting a 2 wheel drive 73 Ranger with a stepside long bed. It's got a 302 duece with a 4speed. I've spent countless hours on the net trying to find about the long bed stepside and never found one. My question is this, was it a not very popular option or was it special order item? It's in decent enough to shape to fix but I think it looks a little goofy. I thought about putting a regular bed on it but if it's a rare thing, probably should keep it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanx
It was a factory bed. I had one on a 71 but it was in rough shape. If its in good shape it would be worth keeping. If you don't like it maybe someone else would be interested in it if you put a styleside bed on. Seems like most I'd seen have been corporate or municipal trucks. Put some pics up for us if you can.
I can't quote any production numbers, but I will say that I am a stepside junkie and I have only seen about 3 longbed versions in 15 years of looking for that "perfect truck". As 71 Sport Custom said, if you are going to switch out the bed (mistake in my humble opinion) someone here will surely take it off your hands. Maybe even swap beds with you are throw some cash your way.
