I have 79,000 plus on my 2004 diesel. From day one It seems to wander on the highway, not much but enough to notice. Was wondering If anybody uses the steering stabilizers and if they do does It help ? Also what brand seems to be the best? Everything In the front end Is tight so I think It is just the nature of the beast. Thanks in advance.
Check all mechanical parts first. DONT FORGET the shocks. I have a 2000 with 390,000 and it runs straight as an arrow. I have had the front end aligned 3 times. Every time I had to replace the ball joints. The only time I have had front end issues was a result of bad shocks. It eats shocks but I pull heavy loads. Look it over for loose joints and have the alignment checked.
It' has 15,000 miles on ball joints ( they are still pretty tight). Front end alignment was done about 5,00 miles ago. But i do think the shocks might be the culprit. Thanks Guys
My friend had a wandering issue. Found out later the sway bar had a broken mount or bolt. Looked like someone removed and replaced it, maybe for four wheeling. Dont remember if that was the main issue but it did help my Excursion when I added one on the rear.
Check your sway bar links. If the rubbers around the bolts appear wet at all, replace them. If you do have to replace the links, spend the extra $5 and replace the sway bar bushings. I did mine today and it made a WORLD of difference.
