Intake Manifold

What would the gain or loss be going to a Trick Flow Box-R or R Series intake manifold over a stock manifold if the final goal is ~400 HP in the future for a stroked 351? This would be going a F-150 4X4 that would never tow more than a light load every once in a while. It would also have 31" tires with the factory 3.55 gears and an E40D trans. The motor is stock now but I don't want to have to buy more than one manifold to reach my goals.

You'll never get anywhere close to 400hp with the stock 5.8 intake so the Trickflow is the answer. I'd select the R series over the Box as well, you do want a somewhat normal powerband after all, the Box is really only usefull for a screamer or forced induction.

Thanks, do you think I would need aluminum heads or do you think something like Thumper heads would flow enough?

You don't need aluminum heads but you do need a set that flow about twice as much as the originals.. or about 250cfm/port. Options include RHS 180's and Dart Iron Eagles.
