Human shields

I guess I've been outta touch since I make it a point to avoid the evening (or morning for that matter) news but what I saw this evening really disgusts me.

These U.S. citizens (I refuse to call them Americans) going to Iraq and attempting to form a "human shield".

It is one thing to protest the war. You have that right.

It is yet another to actively campaign against the war through normal, legal channels. You have that right.

It is QUITE ANOTHER to AID the ENEMY. You DO NOT have that right. It's called treason or subversion depending on your status.

It is my opinion that these subversives should not be allowed back into this country. I've rarely been so disgusted with people.

Most of them were college age.

I did see a poster of Saddam Hussein hung up in their "headquarters". I think that should be enough to get them convicted in light of their stance.

Somehow, this deeply disturbs me. I know people have the right to free speech. I will respect that right. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I can respect their opinion.

But I cannot respect someone who is willing to aid an enemy of everything good about this country. An enemy of everything so many have fought for, and died for, especially when they have demonstrated such contempt and utter lack of respect for those who gave them the freedoms they were so enjoying when they decided to turn traitor.

Too strong a word? I think not. Not when they have decided to aid a man with as heinous a record as Hussein. Ask yourself, if this man has an opportunity to employ WMD against the U.S., not just troops but unarmed civilians, CHILDREN, and otherwise innocent people, do you think he will hesitate?

If you think he would blink, you're dead wrong. If he'd use them against HIS OWN PEOPLE,which he HAS, then we must be high on his wish list.
And they are giving him aid. Such as it is.

I'm not for war. Being a student of military history for so many years, I've grown a strong distaste for war, and an even stronger one for politicians who are directly the cause of it throughout history.

But there comes a time when something must be done. I feel this is one of those times. And I feel these people that are helping him are just as degenerate as those U.S. citizens who are spies for our enemies.

I hope our State Department will keep them in mind and "reward" them for their efforts when this is all over.

You don't have to agree with me. As I said opinions belong to everyone. I just needed to vent.

It doubt they will make it back to this country

Although they (the shields) did complain about being placed next to military bases and the like. Seems they wanted to be placed next to civilians and the military thought they would serve a greater purpose next the bases.

I wonder how they could do that to the rest of us. They are there voluntarily of their own free will. I hope the price they will pay is worth it.

since they are HUMAN SHIELDS we should place them in front of our soldiers. that way, they can SHIELD our HUMANS. if they want to act like bullet barricades, why not jump in front of bullets aimed at OUR soldiers?

I wonder if these "people" are doing this on their own financially, or if they are being supported by a group back in the states. Seems rather unrealistic to me they could do this all on their own...

Would be nice to know who is supporting them (if anyone) and see where the money is coming from. A group like that would cost a few pennies in someone's pocket...

Well said Chuck, I couldn't agree more.

I'm wondering what will happen when the bullets start flying and bombs begin to fall. We've all got a pretty good idea of where Sadaam will deploy them (you didn't really think you'd get to pick a nice shady spot out of harm's way to shield did you?). They'll either be human shields or hostages, either way they've chosen their fate.

Volunteer hostages! What a bunch of morons! Did they happen to forget how badly people are tortured by the enemy? Yeah, they are there as "human shields", but every Iraqi alive thinks they are a bunch of suicidal freak jobs. If they get caught, a-hem detained (they caught themselves in this one...) by Hussein's henchmen and used as trade bait, they may not live to see the "America they love" again. But I imagine they are the offspring of wealthy business owners and media magnates and the like, so they think daddy's money will leverage support from the government getting them out. I hope W. tells them to stick it.

I don't care what kind of microbus-driving, dreadlock-wearing, left-wing, patchouli-soaked, flower-pickin' peacenik hippy communist you are, if you are American and you surrender yourself to an Arab government, you are going to die. Whether our soldiers vaporize you or they torture you until they find out you are a worthless infidel and kill you, you are going to die.
Let 'em go. See how fast they come running back looking for comfort and a cheeseburger.

Let me do a little calculating in my mind. Do I think a "human shield" would have any effect against a bunker buster bomb? I don't think so. Hope they had a nice flight on their way over there.

Nuke them, they are traitors and we wouldn't want one of our servicemen hurt trying to avoid a traitor.

Maybe Hanoi Jane Fonda could go to Iraq and lead them in a victory day parade.

Let them burn!! If anybody thinks the USA will stop attacking because of a few traitor hippies, they are sadly mistaken. It is too bad that college kids think that they are so righteous and can stop the greatest democratic superpower in known history from destroying an evil tyrant. I wonder how many idiots went to the Reichstag in 1944 to protect Hitler? I hope Saddam has some good marijuana for the liberal hippies to smoke, so when the Bunkerbuster bomb frags the hippies into a million pieces they won't feel too much pain.

How can you be a (supposedly) intelligent college student and think your death will change anything? If you were really that smart, you could start preventing the next war, but you can't do that when you are dead.

Are these the same stupid ***** that couldn't find Canada on a map? I say, take them out of the gene pool.
