Whats up

Been a long time since i been around, had some computer issues and just got all my stuff back on the new machine. Some of ya may remember me and some may know me from OB.

Anyway, the 88 is doing good, some repairs are needed before winter but nothing i cant handle. here they are:

First issues is the exhaust, i havent found a shop locally who can bend 3" pipe so im still looking.

Second, and this has been sort of random but irritates me. My steering feels as if its a manual steer truck after i drive it for a short time and try to park. If i rev the engine a little it feels normal so when it happens i have to feather the throttle when i park (especially paralell). Resivior is full, so me thinks the pump isnt building pressure at or near idle. Perhaps the belt is slipping a hair? Or is it a chance the pump is saying c ya? Is the saginaw pump an upgrade for these trucks? I thought it may be the rag joint, but that went on the back burner since when i feather it, its normal. Speaking of rag joints, is there an easy way to R/R one in these trucks? Space is kinda tight, did one on a friends 87 F-250 with a 302 and it was cake...expensive cake (the part was like $80) but cake.

Third, the rear tank leaks. No biggie done enough of these that i can R/R one in an hr. Question is, since there are no big rig fuel places here would it be worth it to mod the filler or not? The local pump is slow (for both gas and diesel) so filling time isnt an issue...but i thought i might just do the vent mod anyway. Thoughts?

Fourth, on any random start (cold or hot) i get a rough idle that sometimes goes away after i few seconds or not and always goes away after i goose it a little. Return line kit was installed along with new injectors and glow plugs fall of when i bought it (2008) so i dont think its a problem. It fires up after 4-5 cranks on the coldest day we had here (around freezing) so im leaning towards air intrusion elsewhere. I rear about some kind of "olive" at the filter head, perhaps this is the culprit? Where else can i look? I will check the return lines for any signs of wetness and around the injector caps for the same and i read mel suggested using a piece of cardboard from a notebook to check for a gap so ill do that as well.

Fifth, this only happened twice and both times were different but my turn signals didnt work. One time the fuse was out of the socket under the dash. Second i didnt have any speeds on the blower motor and my turn signals didnt work until i moved the stalk a few times and presto, all was good. That kind of has me bewildered, i can understand the signals not working but the blower speeds?

1st every shop should be able to do 3" and if they cant, they suck
2nd issue, rebuild or replace the pump. they arent that expensive.
3rd i reamed out my filler neck and removed the inner tube. you just have to add a big breather tube or you'll get a ton of foam and backup. it'll take an hour to fill your tanks
4th you might have air intrusion though the fuel pump or one of the hard lines somewhere. they are prone to cracking if you dont have all the clamps that hold them together.
5th switch contacts may have just been dirty or its a early sign of the switch burning out. did it not work on any speed or just on one?
