You find all the info you need on troubleshooting the old style system here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...old-style.html

Don't listen to the autozone guys! Follow the procedures outlined in that link and if you still can't get them to work then post your results here and we can assist you.

So by replacing both, what exactly did you replace? Did you replace the glow plugs and whichever relay they recommended? I agree with WarOzz that you should check out the post so that you have an idea of what the system looks like.

Also, what symptoms do you have that tells you that your glow plugs are bad? What kinds of things is your wait to start light doing? Can you hear your plugs cycling on and off? Do you have problems with cold starts? What about hot starts? Anything you can give would be useful to try to figure out what exactly the problem is.

Unplug them all, hook a continuity tester alligator clip to the positive batt post, then touch the top of each glowplug. If the light comes on then the glowplug itself should be fine.

If any dont light up they are toast. Usually better to replace 'em all imo but eh... everyones own opinion. If they are all good hows the harness look, might wanna upgrade to the newer glowplug controller or do a manual-pushbutton setup like I use
