Does anyone else here have a 2011 and dislike the steering? The steering wheel doesn't return to center like a normal power steering setup would, and I am told that this is because of the new electric power steering assist feature...
Is there a way to combat this? It drives me nuts...I miss the old trucks where I could make a turn and let the steering wheel take it back straight all by itself...
Sounds like some of the new chevs that I have driven. It feels wierd too me, but some people think it is wierd when the steering wants to return to center.
you mean when coming out of a turn? I haven't noticed a difference in my 2011 in about 6500 miles... but I haven't really been looking for it, either. What exactly is yours doing?
No lift, stock suspension, two weeks old with 900 miles on it. If I make a turn, and I let go of the wheel 3/4 of the way through the turn, the wheel does not spin back to center on its own like it normally should. I immediately thought the toe, camber, or castor could be off...but a guy at the dealer said he thinks it is because of the new electric steering crapola. If you guys are not having the same thing, I'm going to take it to the dealer this weekend.
Like I said I hadn't noticed it. I'll be doing a fair bit of driving today and pay closer attention. I'll post back tonight and let you know what I think.
OP, what was your previous truck? I got an '08 and used to drive GM trucks, my '08 and '11 have the same steer feel, and no, it does not return to center like you want it to.
The GM trucks I had all did this, when I got my '08 I nearly lost it a few times because I had to "finish" the turn with the wheel.
Maybe if you had an '07 or earlier this was different?
Agreed, needs a little help but not so much that it is un natural or objectionable. If you feel it is not right get back to dealer .... Take one out for test drive to compare.
