Have a 04 f250 just done egr delete new oil cooler, turbo overhaul, injectors overhauld. The question is in the throttle housing the butterfly valve thats in there to help with back pressure would it hurt to remove the valve. Just something to think about since it was removed in the newer models.
Some 04's don't throw or set a "Check Engine Light" ( CEL ) when you delete or unplug the EGR valve. If you haven't had your CEL come on, you must have one that wont set the code.
Ok now i know what you mean. The truck does not throw a CEL on there when egr unplugged. So does anyone else know how it will effict performance good or bad
You can remove the two screws holding the throttle blade and remove it. It won't throw a light but will throw a code for insufficiant EGR flow. It did on my 04 anyhow.

Duh! Man, I forgot about just taking the elbow off and removing the stupid plate! Just don't drop those little screws in there. I used a vice grip against the side of the housing to keep the plate flat while I removed the screws.
Do all 2004s throw a code if you remove the butterfly? I'd like to get rid of soot and have unrestricted air supply at all times, but emissions inspections are required where I live.
I heard that 04 CA trucks would throw a light if you screwed with the EGR or removed the butterfly but I ran with EGR unplugged for a short time and than ran two EGRs and the removed butterfly and no light. The code will be there in the background but no light. Can't say what will happen with an emissions inspection in TN. Never lived in a state that cared about that yet.
I installed an AFE bladerunner intake in which I had to remove the throttle plate that reminded me of losing an engine brake. Once you take your foot off of the throttle, it just coasts. It feels like I can coast forever now and see how they say how you can get such great MPGs......... by only coasting. Lol
