Serial Number Question

A buddy and I are rebuilding a 1973, F something tow truck.

Our problem is that we don't know if it is an F250 or F350 as we bought it totally disassembled and without anything to tell us which it is (not even the ownership states it).

The serial number is f37ycr22000. Can anyone help with an answer on this one?

Tim,
The F37 indicates the F350 series, or one ton chassis. The 'Y' means it came with a 360 and the 'C' shows it was built at Oakville, Ont.

I may as well finish it off.

The F37 stands for a F-350 Chassis Cab.

I just talked with my buddy and he was thrilled to have the info.

Then he wondered what rear end would have come with it (which DANA it was)?
