7.3 vs 6.0

i got a quick question. if the 7.3 and 6.0 both use the HEUI injection system, how come you can get more power from a 6.0?

The same way you get more power out of a 7.3. Different injectors, turbo, intercooler, tuning, etc.

The 6.0 also has a variable geometry turbo which helps with boost down low. It's all about fuel delivery, timing, compression, boost...

It comes from the factory pretty wound up. Same thing with the 6.4. That + a few minor mods and you got a screamin demon. The 7.3 isn't running near the top end of its capabilities when you get it. That's why you can do mods to so many things like injectors, HPOP, fuel, voltage, pressure, turbo, airflow, etc without any real engine work like springs, rods, etc.

Those 6.4's are beasts once the emmissions stuff is gone. My buddy has a '08 and it wasn't all that quick when he got it and only got 13mpg.

He got a SCT programmer, DPF delete and full 4" exhaust, and a intake and that thing screams now! Black smoke galore and probably over 500hp

They both have a HEUI system but they are very different systems with similiar main components but still many differences.

Oh and BTW I will take less power over not having to do deal with problems the 6.0 has any day! Just ask my last customer after I handed him the $3700 bill for his headgaskets!

Besides reliability, an engine that's less complicated and easier to work on in general. I look under the hood of my buddy's 6.4 and it's a nightmare!

my 7.3 with over 200,000 nothing but standard maitance and all tow heavy weight everyday with idiot drivers/workers and i dont have to worry
7.3 all the way i wish my 6.0s headachs would just go away
sorry for rambling just hate 6.0

I bet if you put a dime on a 6.4 and drove 1000 miles you could open the hood and it would be right there. Ain't nowhere for it to go.
