DTC P0470 - with Diesel/Exhaust smell in cab
Hi all.
My friend just bought a used 2004 E-350 Super Duty with a 6.0. He states that during idle there is an overwhelming exhaust odor in the cab. I put my MAC Tools scanner on it and I have a P0470 (Exhaust Pressure Sensor) code. Could the smell be related to the code? If so would cleaning the sensor and tube rid the code and smell or is there more to this problem which the two symptoms are derived from?
Thanks,
Brian

I'm not real sure about the Ecolines, but the only time I dealt with strong exhaust in the cab of my truck was when the up pipe sprung a leak in the flex tube. The up pipes and Y pipes were manufactured with a piece of flex tube in them to allow the pipe to absorb a little bit of movement. Sometimes that flex pipe will burn or rub through and then you have a leak that fills the cab. Not sure if that would explain your code though. I would look around those sections of exhaust that lead to your turbo and see if you can find black soot indicating a leak.
