Super Duty gas problem
Ok I have a new to me 2000 SD 5.4 work truck with 60k miles. I have had to put 4 fuel filters on it since Jan.The gas poured out of the filter is thick and brown. Pulled the tank off to see if it was dirty. No it was clean as could be. What is causing the fuel filters to stop up. Is it the rubber fuel lines going bad or what?

Its possible that the previous owner may have done some fuel line work and not used fuel grade rubber line because it is more expensive. A non-fuel rubber hose will swell up and even disintegrate after a few months exposure to gasoline. So I'd be sure any rubber lines are marked for fuel, or at least that they don't appear to be "puffy".
