Mine does the same thing and I have stock Injectors but only does it with a chip or programmer I had a TS chip and it smoked just like you guys are describing I ended up selling the chip to a friend because of it with no chip I get no smoke about a month or two ago I picked up a SCT1705( I only bought it to read codes I had a bad experience with the SCT a couple years ago) well about a week ago I had to pull a pretty big load and figured I would see what would happen if I used the SCT tow program well it smokes just like the other chip take it out and boom the smoke is gone? also if I use the tuner and put some diesel clean in the tank no smoke? In my case I think it is oil maybe getting past valve seals or a bad Injector Internally my O'Rings were changed last winter so they should be good I checked for oil in the fuel filter area and there is none.?
i have every right to wine when the gear rollover is as bad as mine!!! LOL
and no way guys, when it hits 30 and lower well.. like 20s and when it gets going ill clean house lmao
its like this YouTube - 37419 COLD START
well not that bad, im being a jerk but its pretty bad hahah
fordpride- if the excess smoke is from a slow start, how does that explain the smoke once the truck is running? I see what you're saying after watching that train vid.
My other assumption is that the truck is burning off oil that made its way into the cylinder since shutdown. I don't really know the anatomy of the engine that well. If it's not leaking by the injectors, can it be leaking by valves by any chance.
yea that starters pretty slow..My starter guy up here orders gear reduction starts for DIRT. I installed on in my crew cab the night before i sold her, made me almost want it keep it. LOL Nothing worse than a slow cranking diesel
Here is mine from last winter.. I will get another one once it gets colder here. I never noticed how crappy this video was with lighting. haha. Wish I woulda caught the first time I tried to start it on camera. The haze in this video is about the same as I've been getting all summer long. Steve, I hardly heard any gear rollover in those 3 videos you posted first. LOL
EDIT: the rev wasn't supposed to happen like that, btw. I forgot I left it in extreme tune and that was w/ the stage 1 tunes. Pedal was pretty touchy. lol
