Got more done on my Air/Fuel meter I am building for tuning my truck. Step forward and a step back. Step back is I was trying to pull the deutsche connector apart so I could pass the wires through the grommet in the box I am using. I didn't want to cut the 02 sensor wires as I was afraid of the autometer gauge reading incorrectly. Well I got 3 of the pins out but the other three wouldn't release with my release tool. They are also loose and fairly deformed, deformed enough that I am cutting my losses on it and will be order a 25ft long harness to replace this 8ft harness with from summit when I get my check from work. Was concerned the 8ft might have been too short to bring the box inside the truck so I can use it while driving.

In any case when I get the new harness in I wont be disconnecting those horrible deutsche connectors I am just going to snip the 02 sensor wires up near the connector at the gauge itself and soldier the wires back together and shrink wrap. Hope it doesn't throw the gauge off.

Home safe and somewhat sound from an 1100 mile camping trip. Old gal never skipped a beat, hauling a camper and towing our Jeep.

Time to go burn some laundry. Not sure it's even worth trying to wash after a three-week trip.

Finally got everything up and running on an '84 F250 Extended Cab with the 6.9 IDI after the previous owner let it sit for the better part of 2+ years. Drove it over 100 miles without any issues! Starting work on the interior next.

I got the itch to replace the plastic disposable fuel filters, don't really trust them too well. I installed a spin on 10 micron fuel filter setup, just before my fuel pressure regulator. Going to leave the plastic filter that's right before the pump on there until it looks dirty and just replace it with a piece of hose from the hard line to the fuel pump.

Also that spin on transmission filter setup I installed seems to be working very well. It's been about 300 or so miles and the fluid looked clean on the dipstick to begin with. But now it's so clean I can hardly see it on the dipstick. Nice to know it works, and works well.

I wanted it totally vertical so it could trap as much water as possible, although there won't be much. Just wasn't going to happen there.

Filter central here.

The newish distributor I installed a while back. Engine needs cleaned.

My truck was seating for around 8 years, and I´m making baby steps to put it on great shape. With that said, share my story and the aparent fix, hoping help some one else.

In the pasts weeks, I had to replace one by one all my gas rubber hoses, because start to leak, something realy extrange because I replaced all, last year (2017).

Last friday I notice the real problem, when I´m come to the gas satation and remove the gas cap of my front tank, its make a thunderous sound, and inmediatly think "to many pressure on the gas tank", so decided wont fillit, do not place de gas cap and go to my home.

On Saturday morning, inspect the gas tank and notice that have a breather valve that goes to charcoal canister, so remove the valve and blow (works great) then when I try to blow throug the line, "nothing", totaly clogged.

At this point I knew what was the problem, so I disconect the line from the charcoal canister, connect the hose of my air compresor and I tried to pass air through the line, until I heard how it was uncovered and the air passed freely --same history with the rear gas tank--.

On Sunday I ride my truck and notice that it no longer smells like gasoline, and when remove the gas cap, all normal, so I hope I have fixed the problem, which could have been dangerous.

And this is what I did to my truck this weekend.

Acquired another piece for my yet to start project. Will get a HD rebuild done and store it till I am ready for it. Already I see a lot of adapting to be done in order to get shifter linkages hooked up, shorter driveshaft, a trans controller, etc.

Removed bucket seats and installed a bench. Bought this truck and finally got it running. Been sitting out for some time and basically got nuked. Working on interior now, but it's kind of like a frankenstein in there. Moving it back to the bench which is how I remembered it from growing up!

Fixed headlights. The truck had been sitting for a while, and I'm not certain what the previous owner tried to do, but there was no active wiring that ran to the headlights. Maybe they were going to start the fix, not sure.

While I was at it, I followed https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...ghter-brights/ with a couple changes I saw recommended on another site I came across ( Gary's Garagemahal Bullnose bible), rewired everything up and get the lights up and running.

Bulbs themselves work, but I'm not sure how old they are, so they might need replacing soon.

Wipers next.

Small steps to get moving! I've been in an ongoing process of getting my old beater back on the road. For the past few months, my truck has been sitting at a friends house not moving. As of tonight, one freshly rebuilt carb (done by professionals) later, it's finally moving under its own power. I already had put a new battery, mechanical pump, and some rubber fuel lines on it. I picked my carb up, my buddy adjusted the idle while we resurrected it, and we took it around the block. Absolutely terrifying. It's filthy so I couldn't see out the windshield, plus it was night time, plus all the power in the steering was gone. I haven't been able to drive it since high school, some 8-9 years ago. It's pissing trans fluid out of the cooler lines, and new plugs/wires/crap/rotor are next, but it's progress.

Here's the turd. 5.8 HO/C6, 4WD. It sure ain't much to look at but I practically grew up in the middle of its bench seat so tonight I'm happier than a puppy on the front teet.

In the process of redoing the flooring, but need to fix several seals. Got water leaks in the driver and passenger side window quarter vents. If you took the door panel off, and it was raining or you had the hose on the window, you could see water just flowing behind the speaker. Now I know why the speakers and power window motors failed :-), water was just pouring on them.

Also have one I think towards the driver side of the front windshield. At least that's what I hope it is, because anything below it is more difficult to access and fix.

Everything under the flooring was literally soaked, and it hadn't rained in a few days, but it just soaked up in there and never dried out. Got new seals coming for the vent windows in a few days, will verify those work and focus on the front windshield after that. Once no water penetrates after a few tests, will move on to the rust and other repair, and ultimately the new flooring installation.
