After five years of ownership with my '05 FX4 S/Cab, it has been rock solid. The only things above routine maintenance I had done up to this point was having the brake booster hose recall performed, and the tsb for the rear axel done. This truck tows, and is 4x4'd on the beach and in the snow, and never wants to quit. I do take good care of it and try to wash it every couple of weeks or so, and this has been my 4th and best Ford truck to date. I would like to hear of other '04 and up F 150 owners that has had good long term ownership.
'05 FX4 52,000 miles, I've only had three problems: bad altenator at 500mi, had the E-brake redone because it seized up, and had a rear axle seal start leaking, which I think might have been caused from the heat of driving with the e-brake grabbing. So far I'm really happy with this truck and have no plans on selling it anytime soon.
'04 Supercrew purchased new in April 2004. I have 99,000 miles and the only things I have done other than routine maintenance was to replace the front swaybar links, driver door window regulator, and all four rotors. My truck still has the original battery that was installed at the factory! This has been a very good truck and I am completely satisfied. I am a Ford man through and through and always have been. There is no doubt in my mind that Ford makes the best truck. I will not drive anything else. Thinking about buying a 2011 in the spring.
I bought my 04 new and the repairs to date have been a battery replacement and wiper inserts (after warranty fixed the differential messed up by a lousy Ford mechanic).
bought mine in 04, currently at 226,000 miles, mostly highway and towing a 16' cargo trailer. Replaced the batteries twice, sparkplugs twice, windshield twice, and apart from that just regular maintenance. However I do need new rotors, shocks and a catalytic converter. I have been very very pleased with it, though i would like to have had more comfortable front seats, mine are on the firm side ! Will probably have to replace it soon, thinking seriously about the new diesel superduty.
'06 SCrew 4x Lariat - Bought her new in Dec of '05 so just now on 5 years. 88k miles and this truck has worked hard and played hard. She's taken me from the 14,000 ft mountains of Colorado, to 1" on the beaches of North Carolina.
Pulls my boat, worked on countless construction sites, takes me into the back country to hunt and fish; and never fails to get me to work!
Normal maintenance is all she's ever needed in return.
05 Screw 5.4 with 99,420 only things done other than maintenance is the brake booster recall, I had a A/C digital control box put in and both the driver window and power slider switches have been replaced. Other then servicing it the only thing I've had to do in routine stuff is brakes and one brake line they damaged doing the lift. I want to get a new truck but just cant part with this one...
i got mine in november of 03, pushing 117k. new cam phasers, timing chains, chain guides, rear axel seals, shift cable, one of the two main computers but that was so not its fault, brakes (incl ebrake and it still has issues), back up sensor system (2x), stupid 3rd brakelight twice for leaking and now the bulb is burnt and im afraid to change it! but this truck is my daily commuter, and it works hard towing. and ive been in love with it for every single km ive driven it. id buy a 2010 crewcab if i could afford it, this is my 3rd ford, my 85 bronco 2 had me hooked on this company alotta years ago.
Bought a new SCREW in '05 and in 62k miles, did front brakes, 4x4 switch, rear cab light re-sealed, and ashtray rattle (all under warranty).
Unfortunately, the truck was lost in a fire. Relaced it with a very nearly identical '07 and, so far, front brake rotors (warranty) and driver's door window switch. Total=78k miles. Plus, the '07 gets 2 more mpg (17.9), I tow a car/trailer (7500 lbs.) and drive it daily. Nothing but good to say for these things.
