I'm looking to do some exhaust work. I bought this 97' from a friend and he has already done the downpipe. I'm just not sure which brand. The cat appears to be alive and well but I think it may get into a fight with a piece of rebar or so. I'm hoping to free up the exhaust a bit on a budget until I can go with a nice 4" setup. Is the stock muffler a major blockage? I have a 2000 mile round trip road trip coming up and would like to be running smooth.
Great site everyone - I'm gonna join up when I get 60 bones together..
in all honesty it doesnt get louder, it gets a bark and the sound travels further, i can see the decibels going up more than a few, and you get all the turbo whistle.

I like the bark factor.. I like to alert sleepy drivers ... I think I'll kill the kitty to start since it's probably all sooted out anyhow..
