I just purchased a '98 Expedition, Eddie Bauer, Medium Wedgewood Blue Exterior. It has remote keyless entry but no keypad in the door handle. I questioned the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and they said Ford did not install keypad door handles on Expeditions until '99. I thought the answer seemed odd since my '96 Explorer XLT has a keypad entry.
Does anyone know what is involved in adding a keypad door handle assembly? What parts are needed? Can I install one from a '99, assuming the dealer's answer is correct? Are there any computer code changes needed, or all computers built the same with storage areas for additional options? Are there any on-line salvage yards or stores specializing in Expedition components?
