DP F8

Sorry for posting something I'm sure is well covered already.. I'm short on time and didn't want to dig through every post in general, and the search won't search DP F8 because the words are both too short... So.. Was looking at F5, 6 and 8's... I know the 6 is the crowd favorite, but I truly only need / want about four or five tunes and it would be very unlikely that I would want to change it before I'd trade trucks. Anyhow, to make a long story short, Anyone have or had an F8 on a 7.3? All I'm really looking for is a stock, no start, 1200 high idle for warmup and occasional winching, 60 tow and 80 econ. That's the run of it. So... would an F8 with rotary switcher fit my needs? Obviously the F5 would do me the same as the 6 without the self-update feature, correct? The cost difference between the F8 and F5 is minimal, and I don't need the download capability of the 6.

There's nothing wrong with a rotary ****. It's easier to mount for one thing. Having 6 or 10 or 12 tunes is fun at first, but like you said, most settle down and only use a few.

That was also my thinking... I would probably play with however many tunes I purchased for about two weeks, then some of them likely rarely or never again. Sounds like the F8 is going to be well sufficient for me, keep me from overspending on something I won't get use out of. Thanks!

I think you should call Jody and found out exactly what the F8 is and if it's right for you. It seems to me the F8 requires some other software and burning capabilities; its for the advanced users that want to make their own tunes, or the user that wants to use tunes from different places and have them on one chip. Maybe I'm way off with that assumption, but it's what I've gathered from the little bit of talk there's been about it here. I'd think the F5 with a rotary **** is what you're after.
