Does any body know if the Ford factory OME. or dealer, offered a tow hook for the front on a 1964 f600? and if so how was it fitted? thanks.
Tow hooks are not listed in the 1957/63 & 1964/72 truck parts catalogs for anything less than an F800 prior to 1967.
However, I found the following pictured and listed in the 1965 & 1966 Ford Car/Truck accessory brochures: C5TZ19B537D .. Tow Hook Kit - 1965/66 F500/750.
Picture shows the hooks mounted atop the frame rails directly behind the front bumper.
FREESE MOTORS in Monticello Iowa has ONE of these kits = 319-465-3541. What they are gonna want for it, I dunno, but the original 1965 MSRP was: $11.25 (!).
Thanks for that info. I have an Australian Ford parts book and it shows 2 holes as you say, behind the bumper bar bolts as if something bolted there.slightley angled and two different cross centers to the bumper bolts. It all appears to be factory, may be tow hooks?my 64 has a few weird things it has a 112" wheel base the double chassis is riverted all along the rails from under the cab mounts to under the rear spring hanger brackets all the specs I can find show 194" max.from Aust. factory sales brouchers. I had the chassis sand blasted before starting and no joins.
If ever needed I would rather pull from both chassis rails rather than one side on a slipper spring or crush the flanges on the bumper bar. Cheers Brian.
