My 89 trans was running pretty well (a little hard on the shifts at times) and now I can do reverse just fine, first fine as well, but in (D) or D after it makes a smooth change from 1st to 2nd and 2nd seems fine but around 35mph the tranny basicly lets go. I can still accelerate a little but the engine revs almost like it is free. Any ideas where the problem lies? It's an AOD btw.
Oddly enough the fluid level was higher then it should have been. I have since then drained a little out to put it at the correct level. That didn't seem to make any difference.
The AOD uses a throttle valve (TV) cable to manage shift points. This cable links, as you would expect given its name, the throttle valve position with the shift control in the AOD. There is a very specific procedure to adjust it but I would be willing to bet (based on the symptoms you described) it needs the TV cable adjusted properly. A fluid and filter replacement wouldn't hurt either.

How would I go about adjusting that? Any links or advice? As for the filter change I already got a new filter to do that, I figured it couldn't hurt.
