Once in a lifetime
This is way OT for this forum, but hey, it's my home page.
President Obama came to Seattle today and his motorcade passed right by the shop. Security forces were EVERYWHERE, including snipers on the roof of the Safeway store across the street from us.
All traffic was stopped on Roosevelt way and we could walk around in the middle of the street.
When the motorcade showed up I started taking video.

He was on his way to some planned event in the neighborhood nearby.
Some sort of "back yard chat" that will most likely be televised later on.

We had the Vice pres come here to Grand Lake a while back. He was making some kind of speech at an elder apartments about 1 1/2 mile from my store. They had more vehicles then what was on your vid with some choppers circling around. They wouldn't let any of the locals near that place. I wonder who he was talking to?

it is very cool to see. I was in NY on business this summer and they had the street blocked for an extended period of time. Had to wait about 30-40 minutes until the motorcade passed to get across the street to the club we were looking for... It was right behind us on the same block that we were on. Impressive to see though.

Holy crap!! I live outside D.C. and have worked in Washington for many years and they don't even use that many police when he travels around here. I could tell you some stories about what it's like to work near or in the White House or Federal Bldgs. Like working on a roof and looking at your buddy and seeing a RED DOT wavering around on his chest, then looking down and seeing one on yours!!!! Someone forgot to call the Secret Service and let them know we were going to be there!!! Oh what fun!!
