Ok I replaced the tachometer sensor about 2 weeks ago because the tranny shifted hard. I took the truck down a 6 mile trail this weekend. I had the truck in first gear. I looked down when I got to the end of the trail and the overdrive light was blinking. I shifted it to drive and it shifted hard again. I then turned off the truck And back on. The light wasn't flashing and it now shifts fine. What would be the next step after the tach sensor?
22 manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor circuit out of range
43 oxygen sensor out of self-test range
WTF? didnt know a pre stroke had those sensors lol. Are you sure its obd1 and not obd2? pretty sure you dont have either but i could be wrong, make sure and report back. Those just dont sound right.
Code 43 - throttle position below idle speed (diesel only)
Basically you didn't have the throttle in the wide open position when you ran the test. Try the test again with the pedal to the floor (A/C also has to be switched off - if equipped). Chances are you won't get the code 43 again.
Ok I did it again and I still got 22 and 43. I had my food down trhrough the firewall. Could I need to adjust tbhe cable? And as for 22 I was way up in the mountains when this happend. Where is this sensor on the truck? Does that sound like the problem?
Could be, although IMO ford seems to have over reacted if the baro sensor isn't reading right....
Sounds like it's time to take a closer look at the TPS sensor. Engine off, key on, you should have 0.8-1.2V at idle (high idle must be off), and 3.8-4.5V at WOT.
Once that checks out, try to observe the dynamic response between idle and full power. Look for any spikes or flat spots in the reading. If there are - replace the sensor.
I've read that the barometric sensor is located on or near the airbox for the climate control under the hood. I think its somewhere close to the blower motor.
friggin electronics, i knew it didnt have an o2 sensor, but that is why i posted it, nothing made sense. Oh well, glad im all mechanical!! haha
Yeah thats what I figured. I was still trying to locate a more complete code list because I remembered there being some IDI specific codes and the usual website wasn't showing up in my searches.
I tested with the lighter brown with white. Everything checked out sweet. When the throttle was back down after the test it was only at .3 volts but was at .9 when I started
