Hi guys I have a 2006 Superduty 6.0l with 4” turbo back MBRP straight pipe, 90hp injectors by River City Diesel, Edge Platinum with Attitude, Airaid intake, and egr delete. I completed the bubble test by removing and filling the secondary fuel filter and no issues. I also replaced the snubber valve orings, stand tubes, HPOP and STC fitting, plus checked the FICM for a constant 48v all is good. I pressure tested the branch tube and there is no issue there. I have read hundreds of forums and no one seems to have this issue. My truck starts great when it is cold and warm, but blows blue smoke continueously and under acceleration it has very little black smoke. It idles okay but after it is warm it misses. It has given me cylinder #1 contribution fault and today also #5. Here is my conclusion. The other day I left the secondary fuel filter out and full of fuel. After 12 hours the bowl was empty. I have read that this means that the fuel pump is leaking or seeping back to the tank. Could the ICP be my problem? I see no visible leaks on the shop floor so what do I need? 6.0l regulated return kit? and or an Air Dog II DF-165. HELP!! Thanks
I am getting a P0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution/Balance and P0275 Cylinder 5 Contribution/Balance. When I removed the secondary fuel cap I could hear air trying to escape. So I ran it again and when I removed the secondary fuel cap again I hear air trying to escape. I am confused.
If you are wanting to extend what life your injectors might have, I would also get something that does custom tuning. Edge Platinum does not compensate for 90HP injectors. Depending on what power setting you have it on, you might not be giving those injectors enough fuel which could cause them to crack and that would cause a contribution/balance code.
River City Diesel built me these injectors and I had the truck running again in May 2010. A it ran poorly from the start with a contribution balance code on cylinder #1 that showed up in July. Could an injector go bad that fast?

It's possible. You have to remember that these injectors are rebuilt stock injectors(unless someone is now making them from scratch, that I don't know), so there is always a chance. They should have been flow tested, but even that doesn't get them all.
Did you buy the injectors from them outright or did you send your injectors to them to have them modified? If you had problems with your injectors to start with then despite what they did you'll probably still have problems. A lot of people don't understand that or aren't told that. That's why Casserly started going with "new" reman's from Ford as base units for his injectors. Have you talked to River City about your injector problem? Surely they came with some kind of guarantee???
The injectors were the original ones. That were perfect when I bought the truck, but the dealer I bought the truck from changed the oil and fuel filters with aftermarket garbage and it has never run the same. Plus I have no warranty. River City are going to build me a replacement injector for $180 and then when I replace #1 I am going to send them the contribution balance fault injector #1 so they can test it. Hopefully this will shed some light on this issue.
is it possible you didnt torque the injector down to spec?
If he didn't torque it down correctly or didn't torque the oil rail correctly, both of which could have caused leaks that would also have lead to a balance code.
Bad thing about both is that if that is true, I wouldn't run that injector again without a thorough inspection, even then I probably would want a "new" one.
I am not confident that i torqued then to the exact spec, but really close. Maybe I should order a new set of copper washers and remove all of the injectors and reinstall?
