the instrument lights in my 76 are fairly dim. when im driveing through town at night i can barely see the cluster. ive checked for shorts and bad wireing ive also replaced all the bulbs with what my ownersmanual says should be in it im planning on installing a tach and i dont want the tach to overpower the instrument cluster any ideas?
I'm going to state the somewhat-obvious (but hey, it adds to my post count and someone else is bound to say it...) that you can turn the **** to adjust brightness.
I would go with the LED's. I haven't changed mine out yet, but my tach has different color options for the light and I had to find one that was not as bright, the one I wanted was to bright and overpowered my cluster lights.
ive already checked the dimmer and yes, mine has the blueish-green plastic bulb covers to make the cluster green when ur turn on the lights (i like the green tint and would like to keep it)
My dimmer works, you have to keep a regular bulb in the circuit somewhere, like I kept my high beam indicator bulb a regular bulb, for some reason leds won't dim any other way.
I replaced the two cluster bulbs and the heater control bulb with the green WLED-xHP6 from the site I posted. Scroll down the page, they are about 2/3 down. They still dim with the headlight switch.
