Its a 1971 f100 that I plan on putting a flat bed on it that I will build and thinking of turning it in to a diesel dually some have said. The frame was weeker on the f100 but I would like all of you guys opinions and ideas I want it to be a low Buck project I know the diesel motor and trany will cost me a bit I already have a dually rear from a 73 f350 I just. Got to get the springs and find the stuff for the front end
1971 f100 2wd.... sounds like a fun street truck project to me... slam a built small block in there and roast some tires. Leave the flat bed diesel to the dually you already got.
the 351M/400 was one of the most underrated, and overlooked ford engines.
i set one up nice once with cam/intake/holly 750,etc,etc,backed by a fresh c6 and 2800 stall, and holy mother of god.seriously.
i remember thinking it shouldn't be legal to buy what you can from summit lmao.
i didn't even touch the bottom end.it was a low mile rebuilt 400.the 8:1 stock compression was not a problem lol.
i had mine in a '78 t-bird Otahyoni.big heavy old girl too!
Well it sounds fun the frame is the same thickness on the f-100 and 250 that year but different on the f-350. The dually rear end you have now won't fit. The F-350 trucks with dually rear ends were only sold as incomplete chassis cabs. They used the narrow 34'' frame yours is the standard 2wd 37.5'' frame.
