#5 was bad and i felt it getting worse over time so i changed the coil pack and that did nothing so it was about time for plugs so i had them done and when i got it back it was like a fresh motor all over again. since the plug change i have only run 89 oct fuel (my edge stays on level two) and its been great ever since.
Im having the same problem right now...started a couple of months ago. Threw codes for misfires in 6 and 8. Changed the COP's and the problem cleared up. Then it started again a few weeks later...Brought it to the dealership and had a diagnostic done, they couldn't reproduce the problem and said it was probably dirty injectors, so they told me to put in some injector cleaner. I Did that and decided today to do a seafoam treatment through the vacuum line. So after it soaked for awhile i took it out on the highway and ran it hard for awhile. While doing that the CEL came on again, this time misfire on 1. Changed the COP again and so far the problem has cleared up for now. If it does it again im gonna break down and have the plugs changed ( 99274 on the odometer, and as far as i know its the original plugs. Btw shop around the ford dealerships in your area. Most of the ones i talked to wanted a minimum of 400 with no breaks, but i was able to locate a ford dealership in a small town nearby who quoted me 260.00 with two breaks factored in.
That is nuts. If they brake the **** they are not gonna charge me for it, and that is for damn sure. I am not paying for Ford's **** up. I love Ford to death, and have been very loyal, had an Expedition 1997 4.6L it was superb, then a 1999 Ford taurus daily driver, and after that an 04 Ranger single cab 4x4 with an 8ft bed. Had the 4.0L in it.
So what they quote me at is what I'll pay. I don't do this "well we took the plug out and it broke bs." I'll go in there and pretend I had no clue about the plug issue with them, and play dumb. I ain't paying no extra cash for ****.
We need to have a meeting F150's and we will all change Chris's plugs and drink beer. Anyone down LOL?
Number 5 was bad? as in the plug? Edge Tuner? Are they worth it, what are the major gains?
yes #5 as in the plug and YES the edge is worth it the best gains are in the trans and how much it will change with the edge hooked up also the ability to check and see what your truck is doing and tell it what to do thru the edge, here is a link to show some of what it will do for you Edge Products| Product
So the plugs are not no where near as bad to get to as I thought. They are right ontop the freaking motor. I was quoted up to 800 bucks depending on how many broke from Town and Country Ford in this area. They soak them for 1-2 days... He said expect 4 to brake at least. HE said it could be 400-800 bucks.
Local shops don't even soak them... but did know about the braking. I was quoted at 1800 that is the worst case scenario the head breaking.
