fuel sending unit

bought a new fuel sending unit from LMC 2 weeks ago. Installed it, filled the tank and it went to full. Then my son drove the truck till he ran out gas, the gauge never went below 1/2. Filled it back up, it read full again, he drove all week with the gauge never going below 1/2. I made sure he didnt run it bone dry again but it was close. Is there an adjustment or any thing I can do? Thanks

Make sure its the correct ohm range and that the float is moving freely.

Do you still have the original sending unit? If so...check the float.

The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.

The float (C0AZ9202B) is still available from Ford and fits ALL 1957/79 Passenger Cars, Trucks, Bronco's & Econolines.

Since the original sending unit (D7TZ9275G-replaced C1TZ9275K) is obsolete, whatever LMC is selling is not original and is a universal "fits-all" replacement.

The original sending unit can be found NOS at a few Ford Dealers, obsolete parts vendors.

If it is universal you can raise the float assembly up, do you have a picture or link to the part?
