I have an e99 7.3 and have heard you guys mention the exhaust back pressure sensor mod and I would like to know how to do it and what all I need to do.
You can remove the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve), but I don't suggest removing the sensor. It provides good info on what's happening in the exhaust system...
Some people wire it shut and gut the valve in the pedestal. Some would change the pedestal to a non valved unit.
You can wire it OPEN, or drill out the rivets holding the butterfly valve to the shaft. it will fall out. Then you can tap out the bushing in the bottom, install a 3/4" freeze plug and a snapring to hold it in.
To gut the pedestal, simply unscrew the catch from the end of the shaft, pull the snap ring out of the pedestal on the opposite side, then tap the shaft. The whole thing will come out. Then get a 1/4" NPT tap and plug. Tap the hole in the pedestal, remove all shavings, install 1/4" plug with some teflon tape to keep it from leaking, and reinstall cap with snap ring on other side. Done.
While you have it all off, tighten up the wastegate rod as well. Put a few turns on it and you should be good...
Here's what mine looked like after the above work:
some where i heard that u can use this EBPV to function and a exhaust break. has any one heard of this or done this.
yep you can I've got it done to mine works great just find the plug and run a wire with power to it (on a switch of coarse) so you can turn it on and off
