Hi I have a 93 idi turbo and I have broken the throttle lever. ( the part that the cable attaches to and has the idle adjustment on it. I looks like I would have to slide the shaft right out of the injector pump to replace it. Any tricks to getting it off???
Where exactly is it broken? You can always attempt welding up the broken pieces, I've welded throttle body levers on gasser engines without damaging or warping anything so I can't see why it couldn't be done to an IP as well... Best case you fix your problem, worst case you can always do like Festus suggested.
thanks, your right I don't like that answer I might try to weld it in place. I don't really want to replace the pump as it is not even 12 months old. It must of got damaged when the the engine was dropped in...
Use MIG or TIG for that weld, and be very easy on the power - it's not sheetmetal, but it ain't a frame rail either. Better find something to practice on before you actually attempt welding it up...
