I have a 1993 Explorer V6 4.0. I recently blew the motor and wondered if a 97-00 4.0 qill fit in the 93 engine compartment. If the motor mounts fit up and everything. If not, what motors will fit in my 93 and where can I find some used motors with low miles. I am also interested in finding superchargers for my 4.0.
The engines will fit in the compartment, but I am not familiar with the specific alignments on the motor mounts, so I can't help there. BBK is the only company I know of that makes a supercharger for a 4.0.
If you are wanting power, why not go ahead and put a 302 in? It will fit also without too many mods...
It wouldn't be much different in an Explorer than in the Ranger. I do know if you went with a 302 from an Explorer, if you plan on running a manual tranny, you cannot use the Explorer PCM. You would have to use one from a Mustang - the Explorer PCM's for the 302's will not work with manuals - only automatics...
There are some other places to look also. Let us know if you do it and make a write up on it!!!
