Reason: clearification
I have no idea where your rebuilder gets his information. There is no such thing as a Triton 4.0L. The only 4.0L available in 2004 was the SOHC (single overhead cam) 4.0L. There used to be a pushrod 4.0, colloquially referred to as the OHV 4.0, but that engine was discontinued in 2000.
i check with the engine guy he is calling the SOHC motor the triton and the other one is the OHV motor. now my question is what is the differences? the motor cost difference is about 1000. would this other motor work i am just trying to make a hunting truck?
The 4.0 OHV will drop in and bolt up to your existing transmission, but you'd have to deal with all different accessories and brackets, wiring, air intake, etc. You'd probably spend more than $1,000 in additional labor and buying all the stuff to make it work, and you'd end up with an engine that has about 50 less HP than what you had before. Just get the correct engine and drop it in.
