What was the temp gauge reading? The red engine light will come on if the temp gets into the hot range. A bad sensor in the drivers side head can do this, as it overrides the temp gauge, pegging it to the hot side and turning the on. Are the belts all on? The AC quitting and the engine light on sounds like the belts came off thus the fan quit turning.
Sometimes one belt is enough to take the rest off but you would also notice the loss of power steering and power brakes if that were to happen. Serp belts came in 1992 fyi.
Depending on how hot the AC components got, I wonder if some of the electrical got damaged nearby. Are any of the gauges reading off?
What year is the truck?
....and I think its VERY unlikely you need a new oil pump. I suspect this is an electrical issue.
