Help,"CODE 299" No start, Dead peddel,Thunder shut off,
07, F250 4x4 6.0 PS, 105K miles, "Stock" No Mods.
The only symptoms that I have are,
1) no start or strange starting. ( sounds like it's bogged down or a small motor ) Perhaps No fuel preasure?
2) Dead peddle, this is the biggest problem! Nothing there.
3) Bad fuel mileage. Went from 17 in the city to 6.
4) It grumbles like a distant Thunder when I shut it off.
5) Has code p 299
6) Drained lower fuel bleeder and TONS of large dirt and junk came out. Last filter change 15k miles ago. Got filters and changing today.
7) More of a problem when cold outside temps. 60* and below
I do not have any white smoke, the occasional black smoke when I get on it, but that's all. Today I parked it facing down hill and pulled the valve, NO FLUID in the intake. But, when I wipe off the valve and replace, it runs fine for a little while. I have cleaned the valve and the intake, with a shop vac with the hose reduced to a 1/4" line, numerous times. It always runs pretty good for about a week, after this process.
Also, seems to be more of a when cooler temps outside.
Someone told me to test the voltage at a injector, He said to pull one off and test while cranking. I did but engine starts, anyway, the readings were all over the place on all 4 of the contacts in the plug. What is the correct way to do this and the voltages?

Reason: adding new symtom
yeah, the parts house print out listed, 1) Faulty injector control pressure sensor, 2) EGR system fault, 3) Engine mechanical condition - low oil pressure, 4) Faulty turbo / supercharger. Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction before I start replacing expensive parts for no reason.
my guess here is that you have a reoccuring issue with the egr valve being hung open with carbon chunks holding the valve open. best way to check is going to be when it becomes hard to start would be to look at the egr valve open percentage vs. the egrdc# values.
If this is the case I would suspect thaty you have carbon rocks/chunks breaking loose from inside the egr cooler.
what type of air filter? mo oem air filters can casue a odd sound from the turbo when shuting down.
also a sticking turbo, vgt silenoid, or connector.
also look at ebp map and baro values with the key on and enigne off.
to do most of this would require a scan tool that will allow pid data to monitered.
I pulled egr valve and it seems to function, at least when I check it manualy. Air filter is stock. I feel that it may be chunks as well, because when I'm driving and the thing goes to dead peddel, (AFTER DRIVING FINE AT 60MPH ON CRUISE, I SLOW TO A STOP SIGN AND IT DROPS TO DEAD PEDDEL) I turn it off and wait a minute, then it starts again and I can do the same all over again.
very suspect, I would suggest that may be a good place to start. if the carbo in the egr cooler is bad enugh it will require cooler replacement to correct. at that time the turbo would be off saving you the labor of doing it twice I would open it up and have a look to evaluate its needs be it cleaning, replaceing the chra, or the whole unit.
