i have an 89 lincoln mark vii with a 5.0 HO, if i go fast or cut a hard left it kinda boggs down till it straightens out then its fine, dont do it if i turn right at all. i do race the occasional ricer and noticed the past 2 weeks or so if it gets around 3000 rpm its kinda like it bogs down from not enough fuel, and also it has been backfiring when turning left and when its first started and you give it more then a 1/4 pedal till it warms up. head gaskets were replaced about a month ago by me but this problem existed before i tore it apart, except for the backfiring when i turn left. hope this aint too confusing lol.
The fuel pump is definitely a possibility. I would look first for a partially clogged fuel filter, although the bogging in hard left turns is a bit of a head scratcher. Maybe some fault with the fuel pickup that allows it to suck air when the fuel sloshes over to the right side?
