Well the truck did ok with the Diesel Kleen for a tank. I have gotten diesel and put diesel kleen in and now having long crank times again! I have always gotten it from a local BP and thought it may be that, so i only had a 1/4 of tank. I went to another store and filled it to a little less than 3/4 of a tank. I had 3/4 bottle of Diesel Kleen put all in it and its still not cranking like it was. This thing is killing me! About the time you think you have it figured out....here we go again!
I had a bottle that treated 100 gallons so putting 3/4 bottle in when i only have a little less than 3/4 tank of fuel should be MORE than sufficient. Anybody got any thoughts?
If you crank the truck hot its firing up fast. It sounds different though when firing its a really fast pace fire, very short with a kind of high idle! Also when shutting the truck off it sounds a little different, it just dies when you turn the key off. Normally you could here like the turbo or exhaust air being released. Bad example but reminded me before as if you were letting air out of a tire.
I always wondered what Ford defines as a long crank time, mine is variable, 1-4 seconds. It depends on whether its cold/hot and if it's cold how cold the air outside is. BTW my STC has been replaced (unnessarily at the time, motor was out for bed plate leak under warranty). I always thought that a long crank time was 10 seconds at least.
It takes a few seconds for the video to come up and it was on the second or maybe third thread. I should have attached the video-sorry.
Also just wanted to let everyone know I just got back from the Ford Dealership. The part number for the STC fitting has changed for the 2005-6.0Diesels. The parts guy said that # 4C32-9B246-E has been replaced with #4C32-9B246-F. He showed me the computer monitor on this part. He said it has changed about 4 times since the 2005 was in production. Just for reference to anyone buying in the near future. Oh and its $58 bucks! not bad! I asked just for curiosity how much labor for them to repair. 18hrs A $70 OWCH!!!! $1260 labor for a $58 dollar part. He said the bigger city nearby was 20hrs and was in the eighty's on labor.
I have done a EGR/Oil cooler before so this should be a little easier! Just pulling the turbo off and the cover to the HPOP below.
