Costco has what looks like a fairly nice tool set for $75.00. 195 pieces which about a 1/3 are bits but it has a 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 ratchet, standard sockets and metric regular and deep well.
Anyone have any experience with this brand I thought they would make nice Christmas presents and tool sets for boat and truck.
Don't have a picture I'll see if I can get one tonight?
I only buy the name brand tools, but, so long as there is a warranty, they should be fine for occasional use. I would stay away from them if there isn't. Been there to many times in the past.
I've got a smaller set that I've been using for almost 2 years now. Still haven't broke anything. I don't put a whole lot of stress on them, but they get used. I'm not sure how they'd hold up with a cheater bar, but i think they'd handle it.
Ever heard of a Crescent wrench. It has become a generic term around here to mean an adjustable wrench. Crescent was one of if not the first to make them and they are good quality. I have also used their slip joint plies (channel locks) and they are very good quality. I don't know about their others but I would think the qulity of all their tools would be good.
I bought a set at Costco. They're great. The tools actually fit in the case slots, and stay there. It's great to throw in the truck to provide a basic tool set when I take the TC out.
i have a large set of cresent wrenches and sockets and they have not failed me yet. the wrenches fit good in the hand and i have busted a craftsman ratchet and have not had a problem with the cresent one i have. Ive also used their sockets with my air hammer and they have held up fine so far.
I had a bad experience with a small CRESCENT WRENCH. I called them to replace and said there was no warranty. Crescent is not the same warranty as CRAFTSMAN or Home Depot's brand.
For me, I like the convenience of break it, take it to SEARS and replace it. Be your own judge, my money would buy on sale, but not CRESCENT. Read their literature or ask about their warranty.
I put one of those Crescent sets in each of the vehicles that I drive on a regular basis (for emergency roadside repairs). I have had them for about 10 years and have used some of them quite a bit. The tools are good quality and have held up very well.

i'm not sure but sometimes they consider the small sizes to be sort of disposable. snapon and mac used to warranty drillbits and stuff like that too, until too many wornout drillbits started turning up conveniently broken. if its being used as emergency repair kit, my first concern is it able to do the job needed to get me home. strength in other words, the best warranty won't get me off the side of the road. generally i consider Cresent to be a quite high quality product
I use channel locks a lot, they are good. I have seen the kit that is $100 bucks that also includes the ratchet wrenches. For my money a kit that has a plastic case that holds stuff so you don't loose it is a good thing. For the price you pay on some tool kits you could buy 2 of them for the price of a craftsman, snapon husky etc. I've had a chepo socket set from auto zone that I use at work for like 3 yrs. The ratchet sucks but works. Set cost me $5 new. Bottom line. If your doing it for a living get the good stuff. If you have a helper that looses your tools the good stuff gets pricey. Now if it is something to get you out of a bind or to piddle around it should be more than fine. All tools break even the good stuff.
