I really needed a fuel pressure adapter from Sinister/ITP for my truck and they use UPS.
Figure this out.
$39.95USD for the part.
$16 and change shipping.
$2.06 for Canadian GST. (tax)
This is where it gets FUN!!!
$31.42 BROKERAGE !!!!
$33.50 taxes and duty on a 40 dollar part!!!!!!!!!!
There are things I would like to say.... but i'd get booted off the site.
Whats with UPS how can they get away with robbing us Canadians???
I had to look up the brokerage charge because I didn't know what the heck it was for, ends up it's a customs clearence fee. But according to the chart on this page they charge by dollar value of the item shipped and they ripped you off big time. It should have been about $7
Try your government rippin u off. Its just a tax, just like income, capital gains, tax on food, wheel tax, property tax, licence plates, extra resturante tax (in my county) and a few more not listed.
i live about 10 mins across the river from Detroit - i sometimes go over and buy my parts and just declare them on the way back - way cheaper. for those parts i cant get in detroit - i have them shipped to a friend of mine in Lansing,Mi and he frowards them to me - all declared and legal for a third of the cost of UPS ( what can brown do to you today? )
I went to Montreal to do some electrical testing and we shipped the test equipment ahead with no problem. When we shipped the equipment back to the U.S. the Canadien Customs wanted $300 bucks in fees to let us get our own equipment back. I think you have to start the witch hunt at home first.
Ask the vendor to ship your item(s) to you via US Postal Service and recieve the package by Canada Post. I have never had to pay a broker fee doing it this way. I started doing this after getting screwed by USP for about $80 bucks one day. I did have to pay duty on only one item since doing it this but it was like 13 bucks or something.
I was burned a couple times by the BROWN BOX aswell.
When ordering I always ask now if they will ship USPS it not then I dont order.
Had a pillar pod on order $25 + $10 us shipping, got it sent out by UPS & they wanted $89 for all there fees. Sent it back & told the company to send USPS which they did.
I have a oil and egr cooler coming from bulletproof, after reading this, I got an address in Montana to send it to. Probably cheaper to drive down and get it, then I can pick up a case of Coors.
