I have looked and looked for a thread on this, I have failed to find one.
I have a '95 Explorer, today my radiator overflow started spitting a light brown fluid, chked trans-ok,chked oil- ok. I think I may have a slight crack in the rad. I opened the rad drain and flushed it out. it didn't run hot till I did this, now, it won't go 1 mile tilit gets hot. Does anyone have any idea where or what may be the problem. Any help will be appreciatted.
normally if the tuck heats up that quick, the radiator is not full of water. you probably have an air bubble in it. sometimes parking on a hill, front end up will let the air go out the radiator / tank cap. Not a bad idea to put a garden hose flush TEE in the heater hose at a high point above the throttle body. You can flush with it, and also open the cap to vent off any air and get complete water fill............. Transmission has a cooler inside the radiator. look for a tube into one tank, and tube out of the same tank. Thats possible. Also possible that motor is leaking some oil into the radiator.. you need to fighure out which one.
Trans fluid is pink, not light brown. If you have a light brown fluid, then its probably motor oil. Combined with the fact your cooling system is barfing, you probably have a blown head gasket.
