Has anyone tossed around getting one or the other...and what did you end up getting and why ??... I have a 2002 F250 v-10. Also is there any big gap in the price difference ?
I was tossing around the idea of getting an 8", but right now I have decided to go for 12.5" lift
There isn't a big price difference between the 6" and 8" lifts.
I'd say go for the 8". You can run bigger tires, looks better, and when I think of SDs and suspension lifts: bigger is always better. Anyway, if you think you'd like the extra height and don't get it you'll probably be kicking yourself later.
To help you make up your mine, look at THESE PICS of lifted SDs.
Ditto, whatever you go with, it's great the first week, then the next you were wishing you went bigger.
Here in NY we have frame height laws, so I am at my max with an 8", if I could it would be a lot bigger!!!!
8" is better in that the difference in price is small now but more to go up if you want to go to from 6 to 8 later but anything past 8 gets real expensive to do properly
Stelectric........I was wondering what Company you used for your lift and what's the width of your tires......I am goin with a 8" lift but not a big fan of some of the one's I have been seeing on the road.....Thanks
i used edge 4.5" hangers with 4" bds front springs and 8" bds rear springs.i am a firm believer that the less spring in the front the better the ride. my tires are 15.50 wide
Thanks stelectric.......sorry for all the buggin.....just trying to get my truck big and lookin the way I want it too.....I am probably droppin a little over 2 grand with suspension wheels, and tires....and odds & ends for the lift like dual stabilizers and all that good stuff.....
I just found out in michigan we have a 24inch frame limit and a 26 inch bumper limit from ground up. Will I be over 24 inches with an 8 inch lift. Forgive me its like 8 degrees outside or Id go measure it myself
Here's what I know: 10.5" lift and 38" PJs give you a 30.5" measurement to the frame. So, from this I can come up with the following approx. measurements:
8" suspension lift 38" tires: 28" frame
8" susp. 36" tires: 27" frame
6" susp. 36" tires: 25" frame
5.5" lift 35" tires: 24" frame.
4.5" lift 35" tires: 23" frame.
All these measurements will vary a liitle depending on the brand of lift and brand of tire you choose.
You could do a body lift as well, if you wanted more height depending on where they measure the bumper i.e. bottom or middle

It's good to hear that you are taking this into consideration, Some guys don't and if anything were to happen, it can lead to big trouble.
