Bad shock?
Shocks - things I look at when washing the bronco or cking air pressure are:
Visual
the bushings (damage to them or over-tightening when installed - old rule was that the top shock mount nut or bolt needed to be tightened so that the diameter of the bushing = the diameter of the washers above and below it)
any signs of leakage (oily wetness)
physical:
rattles from the area
bounce the vehicle up and down hard at each wheel and then let go. See how many times the vehicle bounces. Weak shocks will allow the vehicle to bounce twice or more.
....
Struts - most common troubles with a strut type suspension is similar to worn shock.
pistons and cylinders inside the struts can leak this reduces the dampening action and the vehicle rides poorly as our 96 Bronco did after 3 years (was like a bucking bronco over underlating roads). As with shocks when a strut it must be replaced (same for shocks) & always as a pair.
it continues to bounce when you stop pushing. Your truck
should come back up and stop, if it continues to bounce more,
then your shocks are shot. Another indicator is oil leaking from
the shock....I found the shocks on my 1999 Ranger were shot
at 36K miles, no oil leaking, but the ride improved a lot after
replacing the OEM shocks with Bilsteins.....
Oh, and welcome to FTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
