I was just looking at my owners manual and it shows that my truck which is (ext. cab 6.5 bed, 4x4, 3.73 and the 5.4) can tow a maximum GCWR of 15,000lbs and the max trailer weight of 9300lbs. I guess my question is, Is it safe to tow this kinda weight with the f150? I have a 32.5' fifth wheel That weighs 10K will my truck pull it? Im really confused!!!!!
Will it pull the trailer? Yes it will raise hell about it and you will be going really slow to try and keep the tranny temp low but it would pull the trailer. It would be better to have a 250 or to upgrade your gears to 4.10's or 4.56's. Maybe look into dropping in a E-Fan too that would help keep things cooler.
It is not something I would do on a regular basis, up mountains, or over long distances without doing some sort of upgrade but once in awhile and short trips of say 100-200 miles I would pull it.
I'm with Drew on this one.
Your truck is likely to pull that weight, but I seriously doubt that it will be happy doing so. That's A LOT of weight, and you already have Ranchhand products on your truck which has already increased your actual weight, cutting into your capable payload, towing, etc.
The transmission won't be excited. It'll probably hunt for gears often. Your brakes won't like it much, even with trailer brakes.
IMO, I'd trade the 150 for a F250 with the 6.7 diesel. You'll be much happier in the long run.
Your owner manual says is can tow max trailer wt of 9300 lbs. Your trailer weighs 10000 lbs. Why are you confused? Your truck can't tow it! I'm also pretty sure, F150's aren't equipped for fifth wheels in addition.
I'm with the others, F-150 will pull it .... but I wouldn't pull it with mine. I've seen more than a few with too much trailer have problems on the highway.
