Let me tell you the story of my Excursion purchase.
I had a 2004 Explorer XLT third row seating fully loaded in 2008. Then coming home from a run to McDonalds for my Breakfast fix and a Honda Accord pulled out in front of me.........It was a sad day when we loader her on the roll back and hauled her off for scrap.
Of course the driver of the accord had no insurance. So, my insurance footed the bill and I went a bought a 2005 Chevy Equinox LS AWD.....Good car but not a truck.
I have always wanted an Excursion but never could find a 4x4 gas or diesel with less than 140K miles and they were all rough.
UNTIL AT LAST - 10-7-2010 it was a warm afternoon and just a little after 6pm as I drove by Ken Wilson Ford in Canton NC.......I seen it, and a small drop of moisture ran down my face, my wife calls it crying… I disagree must have been condensation or something
It was a 2000 Excursion 73K miles Limited Edition, perfect leather seats, and emaculently clean. Maintenance records and receipts from ever scheduled maintenance ever done to the vehicle. The dealer wanted $14,995 and I was interested. We drove it and there was a warped rotor issue that I knew would need fixing. I said to the dealer I can fix this myself but I am going to need you to come down to $12,500 on the price.
I traded a 1998 Dodge Ram B1500 and the equinox he allowed 11K for both so I had to give a little boot to get the deal and $1615 all I paid after a little more arm twisting. And let me tell you the two cars I traded were rough......I almost feel sorry for the dealer.
looks great!!! nice deal also! thats the one thing that would make my Ex perfect. if it was white, i love white. anyhow enjoy your new ex! it should treat you very well.
nice truck- congratulations on finding your Excursion....
Ditch the K&N at first opportunity- they're not good for your engine, gas or diesel. More than enough reading on the net about their ability to pass air, and dirt right along with it.

What should I go with instead and could you post links to some credible information?
As far as plans for the truck, I really have none I am just going to drive it and keep it in as good of shape as I can.
I want to use a power programmer on it and get the "claimed" HP and TQ increase but I am weary of the claims. I would like to see a 100hp gain and 100tq gain.
Simply do an oil analysis with a stock Ford air filter installed and one with the K&N and see how your silica content comes back.
As far as searches, google is your friend. More than enough credible info on K&N's flowing lots of air, and dirt right along with it. They've dusted more turbos than anyone can count. K&N is good marketing, nothing else.
I've found Bob credible enough, along with Blackstone oil reports and visual inspections upon teardowns, diesel and gas alike.
